We are gearing up for a hot and steamy start to the last week of school, but the extended forecast calls for a comfortable end to the week which should be great for our 3rd Grade Graduation and End of year Celebration/picnic next Friday!
As we wrap up the school year, the artwork is coming off the walls, anchor charts are disappearing, book bags and getting emptied, and technology equipment is getting returned. We have spent a year putting things up on the walls and building routines. Now is the time to put all that to rest as we retire for the summer. It is always a bitter sweet time of year. As we see our third graders off, I look forward to the return of our current first and second graders, and we will be welcoming 8 new students to the Elmore school next fall!
Friday, I asked all students to leave iPads at school as we begin the process of returning our devices. Please gather any cases, charging cords and blocks to return on Monday. I will be keeping track of equipment as it is returned. Students will have access to their devices at school next week (at least for a the first part of the week), but they will no longer be going home at the end of the day. That means we will not be having a remote morning meeting next Wednesday. Students will have independent assignments (homework) to complete for attendance (much like we did at the beginning of the school year).
If the weather continues to look favorable for next Thursday, I hope to plan a group hike for Thursday on Elmore Mountain. Stay tuned for details.
The state park has loosened their Covid-19 Protocols as the governor has loosened the guidance. While we will still require masks (unless you are eating), and physical distancing, the park as increased he capacity of people allowed in the shelter from 30 up to their regular capacity and they have replaced picnic tables to this space, so their will be more seating available. It would still be best to try to sit as a family unit. Additional seating may still be needed, so you may want to plan to still bring a couple of chairs. I encourage families to bring recreational activities to enjoy after the picnic (corn hole, can jam, frisbee, volleyball etc). This should be a great way for us to end our year together!
Third Graders should plan to dress in nice attire (it doesn't need to fancy), as this is a special occasion.
The beginning of next week will be very hot. Please make sure your child brings a water bottle!
Reminder: Dismissal is at noon on Friday.
